The cost of a keyword on AdWords and YSM varies depending on the keyword and the landing page. For some keywords, you can obtain a high position and substantial traffic for 5 to 10 cents per click; for other keywords, you must bid more than $ 1 for your ad to appear.
I’ve been working on Search Marketing for 9+ years, but I had never heard of Pinstorm before reading your question. They appear to be one of many hundreds of “search marketing consulting firms” which might (or might not) be able to efficiently help you build a keyword campaign. However, most search marketing firms (me included) require substantial fees and can’t guarantee results.

i have taken keyword link from commission junction for advertising on google adwords. google adwords say that i cannot write the link taken in ppc form. i need help from some one engaged in affiliate marketing via commission junction and posting ads on adwords. by not writing the code taken from advertiser how commission can be received.

You have to have a web site of your own before Google will accept you as an advertiser. Look at “Links.” at the Google Learning Center http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/
You cannot use the affiliate site that the Commission Junction’s member company supplies to you. It has to be your own.

Is there a way to tell what the top bid amount is for a keyword or key phrase in Google AdWords without bidding on it? For example: What is the current cost per click for … “Computer Peripherals”? (example only)

There’s no definite way. But you could run the current top 3-5 websites that are advertising for that keyword in a webservice like spyfu.com and get a pretty good idea on how much they’re bidding.

Question: does anyone know a good alternative to google adwords for keyword research?
Google has just changed their keyword page for SEO research and it sucks BIG TIME. There’s no way to get to the previous interface and the new one is awful. You can’t see the list of keywords all together like you could before.

If you are looking for tools for performing keyword research, you might want to try the following:
1) If you have an AdWords account, try the keyword research tool which Google provide. Here is the external link: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
2) Google Insights for Search – http://www.google.com/insights/search/
3) Try Google Suggests. Go to Google.com and turn off Google Instant. Then simply type your keywords in the search box in order to see variations which people would potentially search.

FAQ- Q: Wow, you FCed Free Bird. How long have you been playing? A: Hm, I used to play on a standard controller (don’t laugh…) since the game came out. I learned to play on Expert. That lasted up until Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 came out when my Dad bought me my own X-Plorer. I jumped right to Expert and while I failed a couple thousand times (exaggeration, probably only a few hours or so of practice), I eventually got the hang of it.
